I’ve been Willen Hospice Chaplain since 1999. My working life began as a civil engineer, followed by parish ministry and youth chaplaincy in Essex and West Sussex. Why the move from engineering? The one-liner is ‘people are more interesting than blocks of concrete’ (an understatement if ever there was one and few places more so than in a hospice).
Despite the jokes, MK is a pretty good place to live. I especially benefit from the collaborative and ecumenical way many churches work here and the acceptance of my ministry amongst many Christian denominations and even other faiths.
I am married to Pauline. I cycle rather than drive where practical, belong to environment and interfaith groups, and have just taken up canoeing again after a long break (taking seriously the comment, “you should get out more!”) We enjoy the harvest of our allotment all year round and summer holidays are often cycle-camping in Scotland.
