I am a Methodist minister and a full-time palliative care chaplain, working in Reading . Recently, our (previously NHS) hospice has been taken over by the Sue Ryder Charity, which has meant a change of employer for me. Under the new arrangements I work 4 days per week at the hospice, and still spend one day a week at our local NHS hospital, where I take my turn on the Chaplaincy on-call rota. I'm surprised to find that, even after 16 years of on-call, this most unpredictable part of ministry is something I would be loath to give up, as it so often takes me right to the heart of what I believe chaplaincy is about.
My interests are music (listening, singing and playing), reading, films and walking. I love to travel when I have the opportunity, and after a wonderful stay in Venice my latest ambition is to learn Italian.
