Cross-Cultural Practice with Families in End of Life Care (part of the 2010 Cicely Saunders Series)

10 June 2010

9.30am to 4.30pm

St Christopher's Hospice, London

Cost £100

This study day will address some of the dilemmas, conflicts and practical difficulties encountered when working with families whose outlook on end of life and death is based on a cultural heritage that poses challenges for the western model of end of life care.

We will work in large and small groups with real case examples in order to develop our skills in these potentially difficult conversations and cross-cultural practice.

What does good multicultural end of life care look like?

We shall consider the spiritual as well as social and psychological factors which interact to create the rich diversity of cultural beliefs.

This five day course is designed for chaplains, spiritual and pastoral care workers who may be new to hospice or hospital work, or who want to update their skills and awareness in caring for the dying, the bereaved and colleagues.
