This code applies to all chaplains who are members of one of the professional associations: The Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplains (AHPCC), The College of Health Care Chaplains (CHCC) and the Scottish Association of Chaplains in Healthcare
(SACH).
The Code sets out the professional standards of conduct expected of chaplains by the AHPCC, CHCC and SACH complementing the policies and rules of employing health bodies, which apply to all staff.
The Code describes the standards of chaplains in relationship to those
in their care. Chaplains have a duty of care towards service users of
their employing health body: patients, their visitors, staff, volunteers,
and other members of the public who have relevant business with the health body.>
