The
author recognises the organic connection which exists between
healing and blessing. He takes the business of blessing away from
its commonest form of use as a counter-curse to something more
constructive: a focus ‘behind’ the fall and back to original
blessing, and the blessing “For Peace” is a good example.
Blessing is often construed in terms of balance, and New Year
Blessing tenderly visualises compensating forces in process
understood in terms of our power to bless, by virtue of our being
human and made in the image of God.
