Aims of the Association

Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplains seek to:

  • work within a multidisciplinary team committed to providing holistic care
  • be proactive in assessing and meeting the complex spiritual and religious needs of patients, their families and carers
  • discern and respect the cultural, spiritual and religious diversity of all patients, their families and carers
  • ensure that all spiritual and religious care is patient-led and focused on the needs of individuals, their families and carers

In support of these aims, the Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplains seeks to:

  • identify and promote good practice
  • be an agent of professional development
  • provide professional support and fellowship
  • promote links with the constituency of palliative care
  • promote links with relevant church bodies and faith communities
